400 North Ervay Real Wedding | Taelor & Jimmy | January 14, 2023

We had the joy of hosting Taelor and Jimmy at 400 North Ervay on January 14, 2023. We are so thrilled to share all the special, classic and fun details of their union. Enjoy!

We met for the first time at a Super Bowl party in 2016. Jimmy was talking during Beyonce’s halftime performance, but I quickly noticed how handsome, tall and funny he was, and I quickly gave him a pass. He left the party that day thinking my name was Christina, and I proceeded to stalk him on social media until our paths crossed again about a year later on Saint Patrick’s Day 2017. The second time we met he asked me out and realized my name is, in fact, Taelor.

What did you want the theme or overarching feeling of your wedding to be?

This is still a hard question to answer… Our main goal was to throw a great party and I think we succeeded at that! We knew this was the only day in our lives where all of our closest family and friends would be in one room to celebrate with us. We wanted to make sure the people there knew how special they are to us, and made sure to not lose sight of that throughout the planning process and on our Wedding Day.

A lot of the spaces we toured were newly renovated, modern spaces, that were essentially blank canvases. We knew we didn’t want to use a large chuck of our budget to transform a room with expensive florals and decorations. When we walked into 400 North Ervay, we knew it was our venue. The venue is stunning without a single piece of florals, and the elements of being in a historical building in Dallas were palpable. We wanted an outside element and the rooftop was perfect for our ceremony and cocktail hour.

Our ceremony was short and sweet! Jimmy’s brother Scott officiated our ceremony which made it that more special to us.

Jimmy’s dad passed away in February of 2022, and one of my favorite moments was spreading some of his ashes after our ceremony and having a moment to remember him. Our photographer, Cameron, did an amazing job of capturing this moment and I’m so thankful to have those photographs to look back on.

Looking back, what words would you use to describe the day?

Happy, exciting, content

Chef Justo is a magician. You can taste his passion for food, even when he is cooking for over 100 people. Every bite of food I had on our big day blew me away. People still complement the food at our wedding. Especially the steak!

The day as a whole was everything we had hoped for. From getting ready to our exit to the after party at The Joule. It was truly a dream.

DJ Jason Esquire basically read my mind. Our ceremony went off without a hitch and everyone stayed on the dance floor during the reception.

Our photographer, Cameron with Outland Weddings, made us both feel so comfortable and was a breeze to work with. He has such an infectious and fun personality, and I’m happy he was the one to follow us around and capture our big day.

Armando Conde was our videographer for the big day and my mouth dropped when we got our footage back. He is incredible at his job and I’m so happy we have this amazing footage to look back on.

Haute Floral elevated the room for the reception in a way that still allowed the historical elements of 400 N Ervay to come through. They did this with little direction from me, as I didn’t have much input when it came to flowers.

Lastly, we couldn’t have pulled this off without the help of Madison and the amazing team at Boxwood Hospitality. They were incredibly organized and I completely trusted them on our big day.

Jimmy is a Dallas firefighter, and at his station, they have a tradition of “coring the cake”. After we cut our piece, all the firemen gathered around and plunged a glass in the center of our top tier, cutting a perfect circle out of the top. The people who weren’t in on the joke were probably horrified, but we loved having this element of Dallas Fire tradition at our wedding.

Pre glow sticks…

Breaking out the glow sticks always pumps up the party!

Do you have any advice for future couples?

Don’t sweat the small stuff… and it’s all small stuff!

Taelor and Jimmy, thank you so much for sharing your wedding day with us at 400 North Ervay! Every moment was perfect! We wish you nothing but the absolute best in the years to come!
