Boxwood Hospitality began with a simple yet pressing question: why is working with special event spaces often so frustrating? From unclear pricing to slow responses on inquiries and availability, even the most basic steps can feel needlessly complicated. There had to be a better way. That’s why Boxwood was created—to redefine the event experience with venues and hospitality rooted in transparency, simplicity, and respect.
Our journey started in 2014 with the groundbreaking of The Laurel, a Hill Country-inspired wedding venue nestled on over six acres in Grapevine, Texas. The Laurel offered guests a serene escape that felt far removed from Dallas-Fort Worth, despite being just 25 minutes from both Downtowns and minutes from DFW Airport.
Boxwood understood that exceptional events require more than just beautiful spaces—they demand an extraordinary service experience. From the first inquiry to the final farewell, every step of the booking, planning, and event process deserved care and precision. With this commitment in mind, Boxwood assembled a team that would become known for their passion, meticulous attention to detail, and signature Southern hospitality.
In 2016, Boxwood began an 18-month restoration of The Cliff House, transforming a long-abandoned church in Dallas’ Bishop Arts District into an award-winning wedding and event venue. Opened in 2018, this historic gem retains its 90-year-old charm, blending original architectural elements with thoughtful modern updates. Boxwood's reputation for hospitality grew quickly. In 2017, Four Corners Brewing Company, one of Texas' most celebrated craft breweries, announced their move to the Cedars neighborhood, just south of Downtown Dallas. They transformed the historic, 100-year-old Stables building into a stunning brewery and event space, blending industrial charm with modern flair. Recognizing Boxwood's expertise, Four Corners invited our team to assist with the finish-out and manage their event service line. The result was an unforgettable venue offering breathtaking views, exceptional service, and incredible craft beer. Guests rave about the unique atmosphere and the seamless hospitality experience crafted by Boxwood and Four Corners.
By 2020, Boxwood began managing events for the Trinity River Audubon Center, an architectural gem designed by Antonie Predock, nestled just 15 minutes south of Downtown Dallas, within the largest urban hardwood forest in America. Since opening in 2008, the center had steadily built a reputation as a unique event space. In 2020, seeking to elevate their event offerings, the Audubon partnered with Boxwood to manage their event services. This collaboration allowed the public to rediscover the beauty of this stunning venue, and soon after, it became a highly sought-after destination for unforgettable events.
2020 was a year of unprecedented challenges for the hospitality industry. While Boxwood was not immune to the hardships brought on by the global crisis, we were fortunate to not only maintain our team but also grow and adapt. As many of our clients scrambled to navigate the new reality, Boxwood stepped in with empathy and professionalism, rescheduling nearly 175 events—some to different dates, others to different venues. Throughout it all, our focus remained on supporting our clients with the care and attention they needed as we all adjusted to a new normal.
As the world slowly returned to normal in 2021, Boxwood Hospitality embraced new opportunities to expand its offerings by launching Boxwood Catering, bringing the same exceptional service and attention to detail that our clients had come to expect from our venues to every event we serve.
In 2022, we celebrated the rebirth of 400 North Ervay, an iconic North Texas building that now hosts unforgettable events with one of the most stunning rooftop settings in the region. That same year, Boxwood formed its first Hill Country partnership with Walden Retreats, helping to launch their private event service line and managing events at their stunning Event Lodge overlooking the Pedernales River through 2024.
2024 marked another exciting chapter for Boxwood with the addition of Flying V Ranch, an authentic Texas ranch steeped in history. Located just outside Decatur, Texas, this 450-acre working cattle ranch offers stunning 360-degree views and borders the LBJ National Grasslands.
We’re also thrilled to join The Overlook at the Heard, a serene venue nestled in nature’s beauty, perfect for weddings and private events. Since 1967, the Heard has been dedicated to connecting people with the natural world through engaging programs and immersive experiences across its 289-acre preserve. The Overlook boasts panoramic views of the preserve, offering an ideal backdrop for weddings, corporate events, and celebrations of every kind.
We closed out 2024 by forging an exciting partnership with The Assembly in Oak Cliff. Originally built in 1941 and meticulously renovated by Proxy Properties, this collaboration with Boxwood Hospitality blends modern hospitality with timeless charm. The Assembly's walls echo decades of stories—from soulful revivals to cultural milestones—celebrating the enduring spirit of Oak Cliff while creating a vibrant future for gatherings and events.
