exceptional experiences in
boutique environments.
“I suppose a room is the summation of all that has happened inside it . . . and though I’m not sure what has come of all the intermingling in this particular place, I am certain the world has been a better place because of it.”
- Amor Towles
Like many companies, Boxwood began with a question: why can special event spaces be so difficult to deal with? And why are some of the seemingly most simple steps – pricing, inquiries, availability – exhausting to find answers to? There simply had to be a more transparent, simple and respectful way. Boxwood’s journey to answer this question began in 2014 with the groundbreaking of The Laurel, a hill country-inspired venue located on over 6 acres of land in Grapevine. The Laurel invited wedding, corporate and private party guests to experience a space that felt hours away from Dallas-Fort Worth while being less than 25 minutes from either Downtown, and less than two miles from DFW Airport.
Even more than beautiful spaces, Boxwood knew guests deserved an incredible service experience at every stage of the booking, planning and event process, and the team that would soon be known for their passion, attention to detail and southern hospitality began to form.
In 2016, Boxwood Hospitality began an eighteen-month restoration of The Cliff House, a beautiful abandoned church located in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas that had fallen into disrepair. The team added small modern touches in lighting, sound and accessibility, while honoring the essence and spirit of the original space and its builders. The Cliff House opened in 2018, winning a Preservation Dallas Architectural Award and giving guests a 90-year-old unique and beautiful building in which to hold their celebrations.
2017 saw Four Corners Brewing Company, one of the most successful craft breweries in Texas, announce their move to the Cedars neighborhood just south of Downtown Dallas. As they built out the 100 year-old Stables building into a spectacular specialized brewery and event space, they asked the Boxwood Hospitality team to assist in the finish out and management of their event service line. Guests to this day rave about the building, service, views and incredible craft beer.
Trinity River Audubon Center - an architectural jewel located 15 minutes south of downtown Dallas in the largest urban hardwood forest in America - opened in 2008 and had spent the previous decade slowly building their reputation as a unique event space. With the desire to take their event service line to another level, the Audubon brought in Boxwood to begin 2020 and immediately the public was able to fall in love all over again with the stunning Antonie Predock design.
2020 was a year of survival across the hospitality sector, and while Boxwood was not immune to the difficulties of the new global reality, we were fortunate to not only keep our team intact but grow and improve while walking alongside clients suddenly scrambling for next steps. Ultimately the Boxwood team moved almost 175 booked clients to different dates - and several to different venues - but always with effort to show empathy and professionalism to every family member as we collectively marched through a new normal.
Thankfully, the world began to slowly return to convention in 2021 and Boxwood Hospitality was excited to announce its latest venue partnership in Dallas’ very own front porch: Klyde Warren Park, one of the most unique settings in all of Texas. 2022 brought the rebirth of 400 North Ervay as an event space, one of the most iconic buildings in North Texas and home to one of the most incredible rooftop settings anywhere. The year also brought Boxwood’s first Hill Country partnership as Walden Retreats launched their spectacular Event Lodge on the Pedernales River overlooking 96 acres of incredible Texas scenery.
Today, Boxwood Hospitality stands for an incredible service experience, attention to detail and a desire to - if just for a moment - capture the moments where family and friends join to celebrate the milestones by which we gather together. Welcome to Boxwood and we look forward to hearing your story.
